What is Going On With Russia and Ukraine?

Written by Shaan Goragandhi

The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr B. Zelensky, showed anger about what he named as ‘unrealistic expectations' for quick success in the warzone. Zelensky wants to prevent more Russian forces from entering the country. This will discourage Kyiv’s allies, Ukraine’s capital, from sustaining military aid. The conflict between Ukraine and Russia started after the Olympics, and has rapidly been growing.

“The modern world quickly gets accustomed to success,” Zelensky said in his nightly address on Tuesday, complaining that Ukrainian troops’ achievements “are perceived as a given.”

President Zelensky’s comments came as the Biden Administration sought congressional approval for a 105 billion dollar aid package that includes assistance for Israel and Ukraine. But, some Republicans oppose sending more aid to Ukraine, instead moving in order to separate the funding request from aid for Israel.

Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III warned American senators on Tuesday that if they cut off funding to Ukraine, as some Republicans have vowed to do, President Vladimir Putin of Russia would win the war.

Effects of The War in Ukraine and Russia in America

Prices across the United States have been skyrocketing. The prices of gasses and  common materials such as wood, metal, and rubber have increased so much that many people have sadly lost many things they need to survive. Inflation, an escalating price number affecting all of America, is causing the American government to go into debt.

The United States of America, generally along with the NATO alliance as a whole, believes that this war is a big threat to the daily lives of many people. Since inflation hit America fairly hard, government officials have started to argue about problems that could have major consequences if the wrong answer is chosen. The environment has also changed in a negative way.The conflict has ruined vast swaths of farmland, burned down forests and destroyed national parks. Damage to industrial facilities has caused heavy air, water and soil pollution, exposing residents to toxic chemicals and contaminated water. The Eastern world has suffered many problems. More awful things are coming out of this war.
