James Webb telescope finds possible life on Europa

 By Zachary M. Schwarcz

What do you think of when you think of a planet or moon with life? A planet far, far away? In another galaxy? Well, life could be closer than you think! It could be right here, in our solar system.

A moon of Jupiter, known as Europa, has been found to have traces of carbon. Carbon is the building block of life! You need carbon, water, energy, and some other things to make life, and we have found all of those things on Europa.

What exactly is Europa? It is a small icy moon of Jupiter. It is cold on the outside, but warm on the inside. This is due to the pull of Jupiter and the other moons. It has an entire ocean underneath its surface. It contains more water than Earth, and the oceans are a lot deeper!

All in all, life in our solar system is more likely than you would think and is actually pretty possible.
